After years of servicing the music industry and new musicians
Soundcontrol and sister company Turnkey have gone to the
administrators.
Established over 30 years ago Soundcontrol have delivered a person to person sales and support service that saw them grow from a small shop in Dunfermline to key store locations like Soho in London.
Online buying is known to be the main reason for the business difficulties forcing them into administration
There was no one available to comment at Deloitte (tasked with the administration of the folding business, however a spokesperson explained that officials were currently in the field dealing with the company's initial instructions.
The culture of popping into the store and getting your hands on that guitar, keyboard or drum kit is fading. The weekends used to fill the stores with a community of budding and established musicians, that will be lost if online buying completely dominates the market.
More than the loss of a store there is a loss of interaction and staff skills and know how.
Sympathies to the staff who will lose their jobs through this news and to all the musicians who enjoyed the store experience.
