Voting is under way in the Glasgow East by-election after polling
stations opened at 7am, 24th July 2008.Nine candidates were contesting the Westminster seat, after the
resignation of Labour's David Marshall. Polling stations will close at
10pm with the declaration expected after midnight on Friday.
In the last general in the 2005 General Election, Labour won a majority of 13,507 over SNP General Election with the turnout at 48%. The importance of this seat is likely to play a key role in determining the turnout and who wins the seat. Candidates Margaret Curran, Scottish Labour Part
