| Andy Murray beats the World Number One |
| Monday, 08 September 2008 | |
In Tennis,a sensational performance over two days due to rain, saw Andy Murray beat the world number one and Wimbledon Champion,Rafael Nadal at Flushing Meadows in New York to reach his first US Open Grand Slam Final.(6-2,7-6,4-6,6-4)Murray had been leading by two sets when rain stopped play and when the players came back on court to resume play it looked like Nadal would be the one who was going to the final but the 21 year old Scot played some superb tennis to stun Nadal and the crowd as he won his way through to meet Roger Federer, the four time defending champion in the final. Murray's tennis was simply too much for Nadal as he had the Wimbledon champion chasing balls all over the court with some simply superb tennis, possibly the best seen from the young Scot. Murray had been beaten by Nadal on five occasions and now after beating the Spaniard he has set his sights on Federer, who he has beaten on two of the three occasions they have met. The question now is can Andy Murray become the first British player in 72 years to win a grand slam title since Fred Perry won the US Open in 1936 The Final will be shown live on Sky Sports One on tonight and the whole if Scotland will be cheering their hero on and if he wins he will give his Mother Judy the best Birthday present ever and send his family and fans in his home town of Dunblane wild with delight! Good Luck Andy Sean Graham
